I hope everyone stayed safe during the big storms last month. We heard countless stories from many of you about the challenges during that period, from power outages to property damage, flooding, hazardous driving conditions, lack of access to heat and water, and more.
The co-op was one of the only businesses in Point Arena that was fully functional after the first storm hit. This enabled us to provide a welcoming environment where people could get a warm meal and a hot drink, go online, charge their devices, fill water containers, get emergency supplies, and buy fresh groceries. The staff dedicated themselves to meeting the communityβs needs with creative ideas like opening an hour early to feed PG&E crews so the store would be ready for our regular customers by 7 am. As each successive wave of the storms hit, the co-op stayed buzzing as a hub for people to connect and find the resources they needed.
Of course, without the year-round support from the community, none of this would have been possible. It’s times like these that highlight the importance of investing in and caring for each other. Let’s continue to keep our community strong and connected!
