With International Workers Day just behind us, Iβm reminded of the daily sacrifices made by workers, how essential we are to keeping things going, and the need to try and ensure the best quality of life possible for our staff with the resources we have available.
In the last year weβve increased wages and with that our standards and quality of service. We strive to be more than a market and hope to provide more than just jobs for locals. We are always looking for new ways to invest in our community and our workforce. For many of our staff members the co-op is a second home, a way to connect with the community, and a place where we can make a difference. We try to provide a space for workers to be heard and consider their vision for how to best run the operation. This helps ensure that employees feel empowered and can help create systems for our unique business as well as a work environment that serves the staff.
Keeping our doors open over all these years has at times been challenging but we manage to do it thanks to a great team, from hard-working staff members to our dedicated board of volunteers contributing countless hours of their lives to help ensure that weβre the best co-op we can be. So a big thank you to all the folks that make it possible for us to continue doing what we do and to all of the support we receive from our amazing members!
