I hope everyone is enjoying the much-needed rain. Of course, with the arrival of winter storms comes the risk of flooding, landslides, and power outages. It’s a good reminder of how important it is for us to have access to the things we need locally.
Those of us living in Point Arena shortly before the co-op opened may remember a very different town, one with no natural food market, no place to get a hot soup on a cold day, and no gathering spot for the community.
The Co-op has now been serving our wonderful community 7 days a week for almost 15 years. Since our opening in 2009, we have made many investments to continue to meet the needs of locals as well as visitors. For example, a few years back we installed a generator that can power the entire store in case of a power outage. This not only ensures we can remain open and our perishable products will be preserved, but it also means we will be able to continue to serve hot food and drinks in our cafe and offer charging stations for electronic devices.
While we hope to not have to power on the generator, it provides peace of mind knowing that it’s there. The co-op itself provides a similar comfort. We’re always here, staffed with your friends and neighbors, and working to continue supporting local suppliers and the community.
