Manager's Report
Dear Community,
As summer kicks up we are loving all the gorgeous fruit and local produce making its way onto our shelves. We are also well stocked with what y’all will need for the perfect barbecue! Please check it all out whenever you’re in the store, and we thank you very much for following our safety protocols as this pandemic continues on.
Last week in our board meeting we agreed on priorities for utilizing our recently received Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) funds. The EIDL money must be used for operational costs, such as vendor payments, payroll, rent, and utilities. That will leave us with a significant amount of extra cash to spend from our sales. We are going to prioritize replacing equipment, building up our cash reserves for the winter slowdown, paying down some of our higher-interest debt, and renovating the cafe. In addition, we have budgeted to leave a portion unallocated for now so that it’s available down the road as our long-term needs become more clear.
As mentioned in last month’s letter, we are initiating a strategic planning process at the co-op. Our hope is that we will get significant input from you all, our co-owners and community members! Expect an email from us in the next few weeks with more details on this. In the meantime, start thinking about your biggest, wildest, hopes for the future of the co-op and its role in our community.
